makes their debut at the festival On July 31st, the Shanghai Quartet performs a concert with Todd Crow to include the rarely heard Piano Quintet by the late nineteenth/early twentieth century American composer Arthur Foote. The August 7th program will feature the return of the celebrated sopranoThe
Brentano String Quartet
returns to perform Haydn and Beethoven on August 14th. The season closes on August 21st
with the
Daedalus Quartet Other composers to be heard this summer are Mozart, Franck, Smetana, Saint-Saëns, Berg, and Maurice Duruflé. The festival aims to present chamber music at its best in an intimate setting. Much of the aura, which is both informal and serious, is due to the ambiance of the Neighborhood House, whose fine acoustics and old world charm add much to the intimacy of communication upon which chamber music thrives.
